ABOUT COMMITS

Commits was inaugurated as a niche postgraduate media and communications institute in Bangalore, by the then Governor of Karnataka, Smt. Rama Devi, in August 2001. In a span of two decades Commits has emerged as one of the top five communication colleges in India, offering a bouquet of industry-recognised media courses. It is the only college to offer both  postgraduate degree and diploma programmes in journalism. Besides, keeping in mind the ever changing media landscape, Commits offers courses in high-demand sectors such as Digital Media Marketing, Brand and Advertising, PR and Corporate Communications, Events and Experiential Marketing, besides a unique globally-acclaimed Development Communication programme.

The flagship degree programmes – MA Marketing and Management Communications (MMC) and MA Journalism and Audiovisual Communications (AVC) courses – are unique non-MBA combinations, with no gap between curriculum and industry expectations.

At Commits theory and practice are given equal weightage, academics and industry-work go hand-in-hand, assuring students hands-on summer internships and final placements. Teachers are professionals, who expect high levels of knowledge, involvement and professionalism from the students, making Commitscions among the best resources that industry wishes to recruit.

Commits believes that education is fundamentally a learning experience and not a passport to job placements. Learning is more experiential and personalized, through live projects, pitch-presentations and intense capacity-building activities. It is structured practically, and encourages original work.

Commits follows the unique model of course delivery called ‘SPADE’- Study-Present-Analyse-Discuss-Evaluate, which makes students confident and empowered. The evaluation methods are practical, and are not always exam-based.

Commits has a big reputation in the media industry. Commits works closely with the television, print and online media, advertising and marketing sectors to constantly bridge the knowledge gap.

Commits’ biggest strength is its well-placed alumni network working at global and local media institutions. They are just a call away for their juniors for internships, jobs and career advice.

Commits is the only media college from India to be a founding-member of the prestigious Global Communications Project (Globcom) involving 18 universities from around the world, allowing students the opportunity to participate in the annual Global Communications Symposium.

Commits follows online admissions with a relevant and student-friendly non-MCQ assessment. Commits believes that its students are its brand ambassadors. Even after 20 years Commits retains its uniqueness and quest for excellence by being small and personal in its outlook.

Joining Commits will truly be a life-changing experience for the students.

Welcome to Commits.
