CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME IN FILMMAKING
DURATION: 3 months (72 hours)
SCHEDULE: 1 day a week (2 hours) + 1 weekend 4 hours
THEORY CLASSES: All theory classes/film viewing sessions will be held at the Commits campus in HSR Layout, and practical sessions at the Foresee Multimedia studio on Infantry Road
ELIGIBILITY: Students and working professionals and anyone interested in Filmmaking (professional or hobby)
AGE LIMIT: Age 18 onwards (high school and above)
ATTENDANCE: Being a practical certificate programme attendance is compulsory at all face to face and project sessions
COURSE FEES: INR 60,000 (+ 18% GST)

PRACTICAL WORK: Students will be given the opportunity to work ‘Live’ at Foresee Multimedia, Bangalore, and play an active part in its projects during the course of their study. They will be also required to produce their own short films at the end of the course.

Across industries and categories, films (the visual medium) contribute significantly to effective communication.
There is an ever-growing need for filmmaking skill/talent across various sectors today, there is great demand for visual professionals with expertise and skill in creating, scripting and producing short films for brands, public and social causes, and news.
Visual Communication as a discipline is extremely important in today’s social media context, highly specialized and evolving constantly, especially after the advent of e-commerce, and mobile apps, across diverse categories - FMCG, Durables, Services, Retail, Financial Services, Technology, Lifestyle, Advertising, Digital, Media, Entertainment, Sports, Events… practically every sphere of commercial activity.
Even mainstream commercial filmmakers are turning to ‘Shorts’, and web-series are replacing the conventional saas-bahu stuff in the drawing rooms.
The Filmmaking short term course will be a unique, one-of-its-kind programme that will train and prepare anyone who wants to be a ‘visual specialist’, and who think everything from the point of view of films. The course will also address the basic myths and misconceptions about filmmaking, audiovisual production, and give an insight into the industry.
The course will explore the following modules.
- Brief exposure to world cinema
- Understanding the various genres of films and their importance - Fiction, documentaries, commercials and corporate films
- Understanding the creative, technical and the practical aspects of filmmaking
- Understanding the film industry and the changing needs
- Telling a story using stills (importance of photography)
- Proposals, Deadlines and Budgets
- Laying a strong foundation in all aspects of film making through
- Scripting for various genres
- Understanding the camera
- Understanding editing
- Understanding sound
- Understanding production aspects
- Understanding special effects
- Things to prepare, and kept in mind, during actual pre- post-production stages
- Working on a film project independently (5 min)
- Showcase of student films and evaluation/interaction with experts/filmmakers
COURSE WILL STRESS ON
Observation: What is observation? How to develop the art of observation? How does observation improve your skills as a filmmaker?
Ideas: Getting ideas, Converting the idea into a final product
Feel: What is feel? How to developing the art of feeling, What does feel mean in scripting, direction, cinematography, editing and sound?
Think: Who is a thinking filmmaker? What is ‘thinking’ in films? Developing the art of THINKING.
Communication: What is communication? What we lack when we communicate? Lack of adequate and effective communication today. The importance of communication in film making, Communicating and understanding, Developing the art of communication, in the context of filmmaking how to communicate with your team?
All students should bring their own cameras/ laptops along with legal software.
All the classes will be conducted by professionals from the field.
Experts will be called in to share their experiences.
The syllabus is directed towards making a career in the field.
All the above will include knowledge of software and the aesthetics of the field.
The studio resources at Foresee Multimedia will be used for hands-on experience.
SPECIALISATIONS: Extended three-month programmes available in the following specialisations – DIRECTION, CINEMATOGRAPHY, EDITING, upon successful completion of the Integrated Course.
