|MONIKA WAS A SPECIAL INVITEE OF THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF STATE LAST DECEMBER.|
Monika Khangembam (Class of 2012) excitedly WhatsApped me last night to inform me that she had been awarded a grant of $25,000 by the U.S. State Department’s Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund. The money is for her project in Manipur that seeks to empower women and girls.
Monika also told me that, according to the U.S. embassy in Kolkata, she is one of the youngest alumnae, and she has obtained the grant at her first attempt. Out of more than 800 proposals submitted, 61 winning teams from 51 countries were selected to carry out “innovative projects of global significance”. Monika says two projects from India were selected; one of them is hers.
More power to you, Monika! We at Commits are very proud of you!
